THE SINFUL TAYLOR HOUSE APPLE-PEAR-RAISIN-CRANBERRY BAKED BREAD
2 loafs of raisin cinnamon bread cut in 1 inch pieces
½ cup dried cranberries, coarsely chopped
½ cup orange juice
½ teaspoon of lemon juice
2 teaspoons each of orange zest, lemon zest
2 cups heavy cream + 1 cup of water OR 3 cups of half & Half
7 small golden delicious apples
1 large butler pear
1/3 cup of sugar + ½ cup granulated sugar
Butter your baking dish. Heat oven to 350 c
Butter each slice of bread then cut into 1 inch pieces. Arrange at the bottom of your dish.
Slice the apples and the pear, sautéed quickly in butter; add lemon juice, 1/3 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, almond extract (very little). Top the first layer of buttered bread with it, as well as the cranberries.
Start the second layer of buttered bread torn into pieces.
In a large bowl, combine the heavy cream, the water, eggs, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, dash of almond extract, ½ cup orange juice, zest of orange and lemon, ½ cup of sugar, sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Warm the mixture (not to boiling point) and pour in the dish.
Bake covered for the first 40 minutes, then un-covered for 25 more minutes until puffed and golden.
